What is the Essence Music Festival?
The Essence Festival, known as "the party with a purpose", is an annual music festival that started in 1995 as a one-time event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Essence magazine.
It became the largest African-American culture and music event in the United States.
The festival is celebrating 30 years this year, so they are setting the bar extremely high and bringing out all the stops to create a memorable experience.

What are the official dates for the Essence Music Festival?
Thursday, July 4, 2024- Monday, July 8, 2024
What is included in the price?
The price includes all your lodging, a creole-style welcome dinner to be held on 7/4, daily breakfast, and a welcome gift. Any concert or event tickets are not included.
Should I purchase travel insurance?
This is a great question. Yes, we strongly recommend travel insurance because you never know what can happen! You can purchase travel insurance from Travel Guard or Travel Insurance.com. You can also type “travel insurance” into any Internet search engine.
Which airport should I fly in and out of?
You need to fly into New Orleans International Airport. The name of the airport is Louis Armstrong International Airport and the airport code is MSY.
Is airfare included in the cost?
No airfare is not included. You are responsible for your own airfare & ground transportation. The drive from the airport to downtown New Orleans is about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
How do the payments work?
You have the option to pay in full or to pay over time. If you choose the pay-in-full option, you save as the prices for lodging will increase closer to the date. However, if you choose to pay over time, an initial $100 deposit is required to secure your spot and you must make payments monthly. You will have the option through Squadtrip (the payment booking site), Zelle, or Paypal to pay over time; with payment reminders sent monthly.
Final payments will be due May 15, 2024. If you would like to use Zelle or PayPal to avoid any fees, please reach out to us a jaestravelexperiences@gmail.com and we will send you an invoice to submit payment.
When will you have concert tickets available for purchase?
Concert tickets will become available once the music and speaker lineup is released. This usually occurs in January-February
This is my first time attending an Essence Music Festival, what can I expect?
Essence Music Festival is one of the premier festivals/parties to attend. Located in New Orleans, the city shuts down for the weekend and you have the opportunity to experience all types of celebrity and cultural events.
From musical performances to informative interviews with some of the most well-known influencers in the health and beauty as well as music industry. There will also be day and night parties, exclusive events, and concerts being held at the Superdome.
Once you reserve your spot with us, we will update you on not only the lineup for the festival but also events, as well as ways to purchase.
Roughly, how much do I need to save for additional concerts and events?
The convention center where all of the speakers and daily events centered around the event days are free.
However, if you would like to attend any of the music concerts at the Superdome, those are additional costs. The price will vary every year, but we suggest a minimum of $500 per person. This is subjective and could vary based on your personal spending.
